The five days
The first day
This day commemorates the beginning of Diwali. It is said that on this day, Lord Dhanvantari rose out of the ocean with Ayurvedic for mankind. on this day at sunset, Hindus should offer a lighted deejay with prasad (sweets offered at worship time) to Yama Rag, the lord of death. Hindus should also pray so that they will have protection from death. This offering should be done near a Tulsi tree (or another sacred tree)
The second day
The second day of dipawali is called Narak Chaturdasi. On this day Hindus should massage their body with oil, bathe and rest. this is done so that Diwali can be celebrated with devotion and strength. The story of the secondd day is that Lord Krishna destroyed the demon Narakasur. This resulted in making the world free from fear
The second day
The third day is when people worship mother Lakshmi. Hindus cleanse themselves, and with their family and the priest they worship the goddess Lakshmi. Hoping to achieve the blessings of wealth and prosperity. The good over evil and the light defeating the darkness.
The fourth day
On the fourth day, Hindus perform Govardham Pooja. The history behind this day is that many of thousands of years ago, Lord Krishna made the people of Vraja to perform the Govardhan Pooja. Now every year, on the fourth day of Diwali, Hindus worship the Govardham to honour the first people that performed the Pooja in Vraja.
The fifth day
The last day of Diwali is called Bhai Teeka. It is a day that is meant to be dedicated for sisters. It is said that the lord of death (Yamraj) visited his sister on this day. He gave his sister a boon that if someone was to visit her they will be free from sins. From then on, brothers would visit theirs sisters, in hope of being freed from sin. This is the last day of the Diwali festival
